TORONTO, ON May 9, 2013 – The results from the nationwide online voting contest for the TORONTO 2015 mascot are in … but the winning mascot will not be revealed until July 17. As of 11:59 p.m. (ET) on Sunday, May 5, more than 33,000 votes had been tallied at toronto2015mascot.ca in Canada's first online vote to determine the mascot for an international multi-sport Games.
In summer 2015, Ontario will host the Pan American and Parapan American Games, the largest multi-sport event staged on Canadian soil since the 1976 Olympic Summer Games.
The Games encourage excellence from high-performance athletes and can help inspire active living. The Government of Ontario recognizes this and is investing $500 million in the Toronto 2015 Games.
Hosting the 2015 Pan American and Parapan American Games in Toronto and the Greater Golden Horseshoe is cause for all of us to celebrate—but it's more than just fun and games.
The Games are also important to Ontario—and for all Canadians.
